Who Do You
Think Jesus Is?
(A
question to think about.)
"When Jesus
came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
‘Who do people say the Son of man is??They replied, ‘Some say John
the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah, or one
of the prophets.?‘But whom say you??he asked. ‘Who do you say
I am?"--Matt. 16:13-15
This is a question
of great truth and of great consequences. Have you ever consider
Jesus Christ and His claim? Do you know what He has taught and what
He has done for you?
Many people
have many different ideas about who this Jesus is. Some think that
Jesus is just a good teacher. Obviously, He cannot just BE a good
teacher since His claim was so extraordinary it either is TRUE or
He was the worst LIAR. Some people would say that Jesus was a normal
man made by his disciples into an extraordinary figure. Why a bunch
of people would be exalting a "purely normal man" and
later to get killed for making these exaggerations would seem very
unlikely. Others rule out the entire possibility of Jesus Christ
existence or His extraordinary claim as actually ever being historical.
But then that seems to be not the case when the very people who
killed Jesus wrote in the Jewish Talmud of the fact that they killed
Jesus because He claimed to be the Messiah and the Savior.
In the end,
Jesus is the Savior and Lord of this world. He is the Savior for
those who have come to accept His death on the cross as a sacrifice
for one's sin. He is Lord in that He is above all creation.
Who do you say
Jesus is and why do you think so? Jesus's claim was extraordinary.
IF His claims were true, think about the impact it would have in
your life if you accept Jesus as Christ and your personal Savior.
It is the hope
of this writer that through this rather short message, you would
be stirred to come to Jesus Christ. This sermon is concern about
TRUTH and not just some globby glooey psychological feelings. If
you are ready to accept Jesus Christ as the truth, way and life
go to the Accepting Jesus Christ page.
Perhaps one
day you may you could relate to Peter, one of Jesus disciples, and
what He said:
"Simon
Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.?
Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was
not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven." --Matt16:
16-17
