Twenty
One Not Forever
I enjoyed saying my age at eighteen,
I remember entering Iraq at nineteen
Hitting twenty was weird, no longer a teen,
Then twenty one came, all so serene.
Walking in the faith five years with the Savior,
It is slowly sinking in; being young is not forever,
Time should make us more mature in our behavior,
I hope God would use me mightily and better?/p>
How youth and looks could be so fleeting!
Friends forever, then suddenly not even a greeting,
Fun time rolls away especially with shallow meeting,
In the end, the Lord is whom I am needing.

The
Oscars 2005
Hollywood’s red carpet is all about pretty people,
Details in the rings, earrings and eye color pupil,
Every year it’s like the wealth quadruple,
Appearances so perfected down to the smallest dimple,
Here fashion begins and trends are its ripple,
Where relationships don’t last and divorce so simple,
My Verdict: Hollywood is superficial.
I stand on the roof and wonder what God sees,
Materialism and fame are Hollywood’s sinful disease,
So much gossip and worldly festivities,
Partying it up with horrendous fees,
Extravagant waste goes with much ease.
Last night’s gossip, the next day’s news,
Affairs and cheating tapped for all its juice,
Hollywood’s trivialness makes me amuse,
How long could you talk of Ashley Simpson’s short fuse?
Or speculate if Britney really is confused?
Sick are some who like Jackson despite the child abuse.
How temporary is everything, passing by with quickness!
One day Hugh Heffner would no longer have his mistress,
One day guys would even forget about Paris,
And who really care about last year’s Oscar’s dress,
Or that Brad Pitt is the sexiest and the best,
If in the end, you do not have Jesus?

San
Diego: One Year After Iraq
San Diego beach with the California sun,
Images of sand, waves and fun,
Yet with the weather and the scenery,
Memories flood over me,
Of last year’s return from Iraq,
Of Memories coming back.
The San Diego breeze that greeted our return,
Emotionally moved to see grass, trees and fern,
To breathe in the air of one’s home country,
To sleep at night with the AC in tranquility.
The sweet memory of a Marine’s return,
Floating then with with no worries or concern,
Glad that not only of sand between your toes,
But there’s rather, reaching up to your nose,
The welcoming smell of seaweed and the sea,
It was a romance with the Lord’s Majesty,
Much thanks I have to the Lord then and now?br>

Hardened
Not
Lord, lead me not to a hardened heart,
When anger tempts or pain start,
Angry thoughts like a fiery dart,
Slippery slope that is ripping myself apart.
May my faith be led by you,
By Your Word and Spirit renew,
It is so easy to be blinded away,
Hard the road of yours, easy it is to stray.
Hardened me not Lord, and lead me not astray?br>

Key:
Enjoy the Lord
I offer tonight my heart’s sacrifice,
May it be accepted to your eyes,
How wretched my heart can be
Yet grace you’ve shown with mercy,
That somehow you should save me.
I look all over for joy and delight,
In the end Your Word was right,
Better the path and the way of the light,
Your way I enjoy its warmth so bright.
I praise You that You I enjoy,
You I should seek with joy,
Of what value is knowledge and fame?
For without you, it is a shame?br>
