Book Resource: Revival's Golden Key, By Ray Comfort

This book by evangelist Ray Comfort has an important message for the Church today. In a day and age of seeker sensitive churches and the Emergent Church movement, this two hundred twenty page book does a good job in warning the need for biblical evangelism. Revival’s Golden Key is simple to read yet deep in its impact if the Church at large were to seriously follow what Mr. Comfort has to say.

For those who are cautious of revival fever and the all too often emotion driven conversion that is coined ‘revival meetings’, do not let the title fool you. This book is not preaching health/wealth nor is it about the happiness gospel. Rather, it concerns about how to truly evangelize to the unsaved with the correct Gospel where sinners can be made righteous in the sight of God through Jesus Christ. The book argues and provides insight from the Scripture that the key to preaching the gospel effectively and biblically is to use the law to convict the sinner’s conscience of their guilt in the sight of God.

The book gives startling statistics of how modern and unbiblical forms of evangelism today have resulted in many false conversions. The root of the problem is identified as the lack of using God’s Laws to convict and convince the sinner’s need for a Savior. There are many illustrations from the book that would make the readers think, which would be useful as analogies to persuade other Christians as well. Moreover, readers will also appreciate Ray Comfort’s humor and antidote throughout the book yet soberly accept the serious message and the biblical method of evangelism taught in this book.
